Love Of My Life is a song by Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. It was supposed to be released as the fourth single from A Night At The Opera, but it was delayed and You're My Best Friend was made as the final single from that album.

History[]

Live performances[]

The song was first performed on the News of the World Tour in 1977 and has since become a live favorite. Usually performed halfway through the concert, mass crowds sing along to the song.

After Mercury's death, Brian May has dedicated to song to him in his own live performances. An exception is on the Return of the Champions DVD, recorded at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield, England on 9th May 2005. Mercury's mother was in attendance that evening and May dedicated the song to her instead. When performed at the SECC in Glasgow, Scotland, May dedicated the song to his own mother, who had recently died.

The performance of the song at Festhalle in Frankfurt, West Germany on 2nd February 1979 was recorded for the Live Killers album. It was released as a single as well, and charted at number 63 in the United Kingdom.
